#Cadillac srx 2012 code
It wasn't long enough to throw a code and make the check engine light come on, but it was undeniable that something was wrong. Within the first 5000 miles it exhibited what I can only call a miss. I bought a 2012 SRX new, from the dealer, in December 2012. Hope this info helps you in your decision.
I'm an old time mechanic and a bit of a "gear head" so I know a few things (or used to anyway) about engines and suspension workings. Mechanically it's been perfect with no engine problems, fluid leaks, mysterious noises, or suspension issues. This issue might be eliminated with the AWD model instead of just FWD. My last vehicle was a GMC Envoy and that traction control engaged at the first sign of even a wheel chirp. If you're in the middle or a turn and do it, you're now going straight (instead of turning) immediately as the traction control is very late to engage. Torque steer is very prominent on the front wheel drive model and will "light up" the front wheels if you mash the pedal at any speed under 20mph. Performance is great but be careful with your right foot. Cadillac should really look at this for the future. Certainly doesn't have the "premium" sound it should. I have heard richer sound from many other base line stereos in other cars. The stereo is a little disappointing, given it's a Bose. Driving in "ECO" mode will save you a fair amount of fuel but it wants to switch to a higher gear too soon, giving the false impression there is some hesitation in the engine. Both covered under the warranty and taken care of. #2 was an adjustment needed for the forward edge of the sunroof glass. Cadillac has a TSB for this and it requires a simple installation of a plastic filler strip for that space.
#1 was as excessive space between the roof line and the top of the rear hatch. I believe it takes it to 7 years/70,000 miles but I'm not sure. For my money, that made a huge difference in deciding to buy private, or from Cadillac. Is the SRX a "Certified used" model from a dealer? If so, the standard warranty is extended far past the original factory warranty, if it is. First let me say this website has been a huge help in locating, and correcting, some issues. I think it is the ethanol content in the Winter formulated fuel that was the key factor.īy the way, the gas pumps in the East, Northeast, and the Midwest all say "up to 10% ethanol by volume" 24/7/365. And my best mileage tanks of gas in the Winter months, pure highway on cruise, over distance, were about 4% less in mpg.
I can say that (coincidentally?) the highest mileage tanks of gas (I ever got) on cruise with two pure highway trips over 3,000 miles each, happened in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. I just have not been able to nail down any appreciable cause and effect that would convince me I am saving or wasting money in an amount that I could pinpoint as certain, at least as far as octane goes. Or that a lower octane content than the recommended octane fuel under load (weight, wind, towing, and acceleration) won't yield a lower fuel mileage if the knock sensors retard the spark a tad. I won't argue ethanol content fuel has less measured "energy" per gallon. Is it the wind direction and velocity? Perhaps. With absolutely no changes, I can get as much as a + or- 5% fuel mileage variance each trip. Twice a week year round I drive 100 miles round trip to/fro the exact same destination on the exact same roads at the exact same speeds with the exact same traffic with the exact same weather with the exact same fuel (93 octane and ethanol content) and with the same passengers (weight) and with the exact same tire pressure. VHA.not to be contrary, but I don't think a couple of tanks of gas for comparison purposes is going to be of much help.
